I'm Kevin, the guy behind 2B Guitar Work.
For over three years I looked after the guitars that came across the bench at Gokula Music in Auckland: vintage, modern, cheap, expensive, and plenty that just needed a lot of love. Setups, fret levels, refrets, pickup swaps, crackly pots, sharp fret ends. If it came through the door, I worked on it.
I'm a gigging musician too. I know what it's like when your guitar fights you on stage: buzzing on that one note, going out of tune halfway through a set, action so high your hand gets tired. I also know how good it feels when a guitar just plays itself. That feeling is what I'm after with every job.
That's why I don't do one-size-fits-all setups. Before I touch your guitar, we talk about how you play, what music you play, and what's bugging you. When you pick it up, you play it on the spot, and if anything doesn't feel right, I adjust it there and then. We fine-tune it together.
2B Guitar Work is my own bench now. I'm building it from scratch and filming the whole journey in my series Built From Scratch: the jobs, the wins, and the mistakes.
Your guitar's in good hands. The diagnosis is always free, and I'll tell you straight what it needs and what it doesn't.
